Impact of Online Learning on Socialization in Schools
Abstract
This study examines the impact of online learning on socialization among students in schools, particularly in the context of the increased reliance on digital platforms for education. As educational institutions transitioned to online formats, concerns arose regarding the potential isolation of students and the effects on their social skills and peer relationships. Through a mixed-methods approach, including surveys and interviews with students, teachers, and parents, the research investigates changes in students' social interactions, communication skills, and emotional well-being during online learning periods. Findings indicate that while online learning provides flexibility and access to resources, it also poses challenges for meaningful interaction and collaboration among peers. Many students reported feelings of loneliness and difficulty in forming connections, which can affect their overall development. The study highlights the importance of integrating socialization opportunities within online learning environments, such as virtual group projects and interactive platforms, to enhance peer engagement. Ultimately, this research underscores the need for educators and policymakers to consider the social dimensions of online education and implement strategies that promote effective socialization for students in a digital learning landscape.
